Every now and then I try to imitate some of my favorite stones, to varying degrees of success. Labradorite is one that I've been chasing for several years, but my previous attempts were pretty sad. I found a fantastic Youtube tutorial that inspired me to give the labradorite look another try - this dragon was the result. I was inspired by the blue-to-copper color shifts commonly seen in the stone, but I think I overdid it with the copper. So I didn't quite hit the mark, but the result is still quite nice to look at. The striations add a very interesting amount of textured complexity to the dragon, and I love the soft fading of one color into another. I included two shots, one from either side of the dragon, as both sides look quite different from one another.
Crafted from polymer clay and glass beads. No paint!
This dragon has been sold, but you can still drop by his Etsy listing if you'd like to see additional photos.
