Description
Rounding out the four seasons of deer-dragon hybrids, here's summer! My inspiration was sand, sea, sky, and sun. She's colored the bright blue of a deep, cloudless sky, and her sea spray wings are curled to represent breaking waves. Her horns are the warm, golden yellow of sand, and she bears a sun of her own, held between her horns.
Haha, perhaps a little less deer-like than the others in this set, as her horns have really drifted away from antlers. I struggled a bit with this piece - I have much more difficulty in summing up the concept of summer than the other seasons. I think you can kind of see that in my elemental spirits series too. I do like the choice of blue this time around - definitely sets this piece apart from the others. Fun fact: I was going to mount the sun gem on her chest at first, but then I got the idea to pin it between her horns. I think it was the better choice - gives her a bit of an Egyptian flair, which I like.
Crafted from colored, oven-bake polymer clay and a piece of dichroic glass.
