Stone Gargoyle Dragon by HowManyDragons Stone Gargoyle Dragon by HowManyDragons
Kind of a follow-up to all the angel dragons from last week, here's a dragon that I made sometime over the summer as a gargoyle/guardian. That stone-textured clay looks pretty neat, though I feel like there aren't a lot of colors that go well with it. The gold is nice, though! Had a bit of fun with the wings on this one and added some of my larger rhinestones that I am trying to use up. I like the look! :)

This dragon has been sold, but you can still find additional photos at his Etsy listing.

Premo does a good job with their rock-textured clay!

How do you mold the granite clay without it tearing up or being really hard?

I haven't had a problem with the clay being hard or brittle. It's maybe a little bit drier than some of the other Premo colors, but it doesn't tear for me. Maybe you haven't conditioned your clay enough. Try mixing it between your fingers for a few minutes before starting to work with it.

Even if it's a gargoyle, yours looks cute! I really like the contrast between the "stone" and gold :D

Aw, he's neat - definitely looks more gargoyle-y than mine. ^^ TBH, my first thought upon opening up the stone clay was to make a weeping angel from Doctor Who, but several other people have already done that. So this was my fallback idea. =P

Yeah, the gold goes well with the stone clay - it's hard to find other colors that don't look out of place when paired together.

It's the clay I used - the Premo line offers a few different stone-textured clays.
