Happy Raturday!

So.... I have pet rats, and I like taking pictures of them every now and then. I know I'm not a very good photographer, but I still thought it would be fun to share some of my better photos. This is a picture my very first two rats, Moby (American blue capped dumbo rex) and Starbuck (black bareback), very soon after I first got them. The size difference is pretty amazing, especially because they're only a week apart in age. Moby came from a pet store, and Starbuck was a shelter baby. This was taken when they were about 8-9 weeks old, during their initial introduction. They look like they're best friends, but in truth, they were more like roommates that put up with one another out of necessity. :giggle: They've both passed on at this point, but they were a wonderful introduction to pet rat ownership!

My dog would never hurt one, he's too innocent already.  He doesn't want to hurt anyone, but her wants to play with them.  He chased a fox off wanting to play with it, as well as a rabbit.

Just to know rats are dangerous.

Certainly it is not a good idea to come in contact with wild rodents of any sort, but domestic pet rats are no more dangerous than domestic pet dogs.

Awww - my first two rats were a female hooded rat named Zeke (short for Ezekiel) and Cheeto who was just a snake-food rescue.  He was a big brown rat...nothing fancy :)

Zeke would ride around my shoulder all the time - even if we went out and about.  People would always ask me about her, and even the owners of one of the local chinese food places let me bring her in when I was getting food, and they would always want to know where she was if I didn't have her with me :D

Rats rock!

I wish I had a rat that I could trust to carry around on my shoulder. Jimmy's pretty good, but he's also the world's busiest rat, so he gets bored quickly and wants to run off and do something else.

Zeke was also awesome that she would wait to potty until after she was off my shoulder :D

I'm hoping my son will want one as a pet when he's a bit older!
