Okay, so I said it was angel week, right? ;D Here we have my very first attempt at a Christmas tree ornament - a little angel dragon playing one of those Christmas horn/trumpet things. Gosh, I don't even know what they're called. I guess it could be a vuvuzela.
I think my favorite thing about him is the 'floating' halo. I love how it turned out (also, it looks like a delicious golden doughnut).
This little guy hangs from a wire loop inserted in the back of his neck. I hung him on a wire in the oven so that he could bake without getting squished, so imagine my distress when I opened the oven to find him lying on the baking tray due to having separated from the wire loop! Fortunately, he was otherwise unharmed, and a bit of super glue reunited him with his hanger. I have a better method for affixing the wire loop now, so that won't happen again, thank goodness. He hangs from a thin but sturdy piece of gold beading wire - I like subtle, and that's about as subtle as you can get without resorting to fishing line, or something flimsy like thread. A good first attempt, I think! Oh, and would you know it, I made him a couple of brothers... More on that tomorrow.
This ornament has been sculpted out of Premo polymer clay and is about 3 inches tall. He is for sale, so you can take a look at the sales information and additional photos (including Christmas tree shots!) at his Etsy listing
